Busting Through to Spiritual Treasures
Do you ever feel like you’ve hit a brick wall? I know this often applies to physical circumstances, but in this devotion I’m referencing a spiritual plateau. Actually, our physical limitations can directly correlate to our spiritual condition.
I’m in a place right now where I’m spiritually frustrated. I’m so hungry for more of God! It’s hard to explain what is going on in my heart and mind right now, but it’s literally a passionate cry of my soul to know Jesus more intimately and to share His love more effectively. I want to go deeper than I’ve ever been and life as usual is no longer an option. I’ve amped up my time of worship, prayer and Bible study, yet all I can do in His presence is weep. I feel such a pull to a new level of holiness, purity, worship, knowledge, intimacy and usefulness. Though I feel an incredible sense of His presence and the warmth of His embrace, still there’s a wall that blocks me from getting to the depths I so desire. Repentance has become my friend. I find more freedom as my heart is searched and more is placed at the foot of the cross.
This season is not new to me. The Holy Spirit always prepares us for the place He’s calling us to by stirring a spiritual dissatisfaction that challenges us to shed more baggage, go deeper and draw closer. We must get close enough to know His heart and hear His voice. So, He backs up ever so slightly, far enough for us to see our desperate need of Him and entice us to build more spiritual muscle to experience Him in a new way and express the work of His Spirit to the world around us. It’s much like a parent who teaches their child to walk, with hands held out in front of them they bid the child to come to them. As the leg muscles strengthen they then run into the parent's arms.
It’s building time! For what’s ahead we will need more strength to endure and more of His anointing to touch a fearful, desperate and dying world. There’s so much more of God that we have yet to experience and share. Don’t become paralyzed where you are. Kick down the walls and bust through with more time seeking Jesus and sharing your heart, love and adoration for Him! I can see the spiritual treasures that are on the other side and it’s glorious! Don’t stop at the wall BUST THROUGH IT!
2 Corinthians 4:7 (NKJV) We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (TPT) We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Colossians 2:2-3 (TPT) I am contending for you that your hearts will be wrapped in the comfort of heaven and woven together into love’s fabric. This will give you access to all the riches of God as you experience the revelation of God’s great mystery—Christ. For our spiritual wealth is in him, like hidden treasure waiting to be discovered—heaven’s wisdom and endless riches of revelation knowledge.
