Bless Him
Tonight, I rode my bike to the gym then went looking for a new, intimate place to pray and write. I’m blessed that I live in a community filled with trails, ponds and nature, but that’s not the main point. The important thing is having a heart that’s continually in pursuit for intimacy with the Bride Groom. When I lived in an apartment in St. Louis, my desire was still to steal away to a private place with Jesus. It could be a prayer closet, bedroom or bathroom, but we must have that quiet time where we can share our heart with Him and hear His voice.
My time with Him isn’t always quiet, I can actually get quite loud when I intercede and do battle against the forces of evil both in my life and that of others…that’s very necessary and I certainly would not do that on this park bench, but right here…right now…this is my time to tell Jesus just how much I appreciate Him…the sacrifice of the cross that set me free, the stripes on His back that afforded my healing, His love…oh, such love….
In this moment, I ask Him to search my heart and I repent for what displeases Him. I give Him praise for the blessings as well as the trials, that have taught me so much…without them I’d have no testimonies to write about. I ask for greater understanding, because I know that there’s so much I have yet to learn and yet to write and teach. I realize in the greatness of His presence, I am absolutely nothing without Him, but strong, powerful and unstoppable when I yield to His Spirit and flow in His anointing. It’s an awesome, humbling experience to sit at the feet of Jesus, hungering to know Him in a greater way and offering Him adoration and praise. It’s refreshing, cleansing, life changing and empowering, but most importantly…much more important than any self gratification…it blesses our Savior! Wow!!! We can actually bless the one who gave everything for us!! Yeah! Us! Created beings…we have the power to bless the King of kings and Lord of Lords! Incredible!!
We must realize that no matter how spiritual we may think we are…we’ve only scratched the surface of His infinite love, power and grace! Seek and worship Him with all of your heart! Give Him praise, not for what you can get out of it, but for what it will do for Him! Let’s take our eyes off of ourselves, our needs and desires and just focus on Jesus and how we can bless Him with our thoughts, actions and absolute, uninhibited praise!!!
I have an entire chapter for you to read today. There’s so much we can learn from the heart of King David and his worship…after all…He was a man after God’s own heart!
If you don’t know how to worship, start out by saying this Psalm out loud to God as you agree with every word! Soon, you’ll form your own words of thankfulness and praise to God! It’ll bless Him!
Psalm 103 (TPT) With my whole heart, with my whole life, and with my innermost being, I bow in wonder and love before you, the holy God! Yahweh, you are my soul’s celebration. How could I ever forget the miracles of kindness you’ve done for me? You kissed my heart with forgiveness, in spite of all I’ve done. You’ve healed me inside and out from every disease. You’ve rescued me from hell and saved my life. You’ve crowned me with love and mercy. You satisfy my every desire with good things. You’ve supercharged my life so that I soar again like a flying eagle in the sky! You’re a God who makes things right, giving justice to the defenseless. You unveiled to Moses your plans and showed Israel’s sons what you could do. Lord, you’re so kind and tenderhearted and so patient with people who fail you! Your love is like a flooding river overflowing its banks with kindness. You don’t look at us only to find our faults, just so that you can hold a grudge against us.You may discipline us for our many sins, but never as much as we really deserve. Nor do you get even with us for what we’ve done. Higher than the highest heavens—that’s how high your tender mercy extends! Greater than the grandeur of heaven above is the greatness of your loyal love, towering over all who fear you and bow down before you! Farther than from a sunrise to a sunset—that’s how far you’ve removed our guilt from us. The same way a loving father feels toward his children that’s but a sample of your tender feelings toward us, your beloved children, who live in awe of you.You know all about us, inside and out. You are mindful that we’re made from dust. Our days are so few, and our momentary beauty so swiftly fades away! Then all of a sudden we’re gone, like grass clippings blown away in a gust of wind, taken away to our appointment with death, leaving nothing to show that we were here. But Lord, your endless love stretches from one eternity to the other, unbroken and unrelenting toward those who fear you and those who bow facedown in awe before you.Your faithfulness to keep every gracious promise you’ve made passes from parents, to children, to grandchildren, and beyond. You are faithful to all those who follow your ways and keep your word.Yahweh has established his throne in heaven; his kingdom rules the entire universe. So bless the Lord, all his messengers of power, for you are his mighty heroes who listen intently to the voice of his word to do it. Bless and praise the Lord, you mighty warriors, ministers who serve him well and fulfill his desires. I will bless and praise the Lord with my whole heart. Let all his works throughout the earth, wherever his dominion stretches, let everything bless the Lord!
