Overcoming Feelings of Inadequacy
Feelings of inadequacy can make people draw away from God. They don't feel like they could ever measure up to the qualifications of a deeper more meaningful relationship with Him. I mean...after all...HE'S GOD! If we begin to think about the price He's paid for us, then realize what we have to offer in return, it could make you feel foolish for ever even thinking that we....come into His presence!? Hear His voice!? It's just too much to grasp and many have no idea that an intimate relationship with Jesus is really attainable. I'm not talking about religion, but the kind of relationship where 2 hearts intertwine and begin to beat as one. His heart and desires become yours and His voice becomes clear. His love becomes tangible and you feel His presence near you....very near...in His arms...breath on your face near. The kind of tangible presence that will cause you to overcome every obstacle with peace, faith and boldness. After all... when you realize how much the Creator of the universe really loves you... you'll become strong and courageous! If He's for you, who could possibly be against you!? (Romans 8:31)
His love is not based on your strengths, gifts, abilities or how good you are. A relationship with Him is solely based on your willingness to yield to His goodness, repent and draw closer to Him. Admit you're a sinner, lost and broken without Him....in desperate need of a Savior...then turn over the reins to your life and receive Him into your heart as YOUR Lord and Savior.
Still feel weak, worthless and foolish? Well guess what...1 Corinthians 1:26-31 says: Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him. It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”
He never chose anyone who was qualified or "good enough." He only chose those who realized they were absolutely nothing if not for the work of the cross, the love and mercy of God, His grace at work within us, transforming us into what He wants us to be and the anointing that empowers us to do whatever it is He desires that we do.
Set your affection and focus on Him and give Him control, His plans are the only ones that will ever fulfill you and they are so much greater than yours, because they are not limited by YOU, your strengths or abilities.
Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV) So He answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts."
2 Corinthians 12:9-11 (TPT) But He answered me, “My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.” So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me. So I’m not defeated by my weakness, but delighted! For when I feel my weakness and endure mistreatment—when I’m surrounded with troubles on every side and face persecution because of my love for Christ—I am made yet stronger. For my weakness becomes a portal to God’s power. I have become foolish to boast like this, but you have forced me to do it, when you should have boasted in me instead. For there is nothing I lack compared to these “super-apostles” of yours, even though I am nothing.
