Be Set Apart
Being in the world but not of the world can be difficult at times. We are to show love to those around us, the love of Christ. When I was first saved, I didn't understand this at all. I only knew that after 20 years of searching for Truth, I finally found God and wanted everyone else in the world to know this Jesus. I would be angry at people for not being Christians. I would tell sinners that they were wrong and needed Jesus. I didn't know how to show love, I only knew that I was angry it took so long for someone to invite me to church. I wished that I would have been invited years ago. Having Christ during my teenage years would have made my life much easier to deal with. However, I went through a lot of hell and made many poor choices as a teen and because of that, I can relate to others going through the same thing.
I'm so grateful to God for rescuing me from the darkness I was living in. As you go about your day, seeing lost and hurting people all around you, show His love to them through simple acts of kindness. Pay for someone's meal, their gas, their groceries. Help someone who seems frustrated. Offer prayer for the broken. Tell someone what God has done for you! Testimonies are always so encouraging, to see what God did for one person and knowing that He will do the same for you is amazing. When someone is cussing up a storm, realize they are hurting and broken and could really benefit from a listening ear. Take time to bless people around you, from friends and family to complete strangers. Be that light that shines through the darkness for someone else. Be genuine and sincere, and you will win the lost for Christ - let's all do our part in fulfilling the great commission to make disciples of ALL nations!
John 17:16-17 (AMP) They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth [set them apart for Your purposes, make them holy]; Your word is truth.
Matthew 28:18-20 (TPT) Then Jesus came close to them and said, “All the authority of the universe has been given to me. Now go in my authority and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And teach them to faithfully follow all that I have commanded you. And never forget that I am with you every day, even to the completion of this age.”
1 Peter 2:9-10 (MSG) But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.
Psalm 4:3 (AMP) But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself [and dealt wonderfully with] the godly man [the one of honorable character and moral courage—the one who does right]. The Lord hears and responds when I call to Him.
1 John 4:4 (AMP) Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind].
