Healing a Broken Heart

I was talking with a coworker a while back, who has a friend that has been going through some very tough back to back seasons. She has suffered loss of loved ones, has a daughter who has been crippled by an accident, she’s been rejected and abandoned by her spouse and estranged by her son. It seems that these attacks just keep coming from every direction, never allowing her the possibility to get her head above water and catch her breath, much less heal from all of the pain as each attack is layered upon fresh wounds. As we were talking I could just see the potential for ministry this woman would have if she could just get the strength to focus on Jesus long enough to receive her healing. She could relate to people who are going through difficult experiences on so many levels.

The enemy knows your potential and what a threat you could be to his kingdom and his progress in the lives of others. His plan is to keep so many diversions in our path that we are constantly distracted from the love and power of God to heal all of the deep wounds that have been inflicted upon us. Every single terrible thing in your life can be turned into a testimony of God’s healing power. Yes, these attacks are much too painful for any human being to handle, but there is nothing too difficult for God and no wound too great for Him to heal. Even as you mourn your losses, He is there holding you and giving you strength to get to the other side.

There is comfort in His strong arms, run into them today. Be real, let Him know how deep the pain is and that you cannot make it without Him. He will not only heal your heart and give you strength to endure, but He will give you power to overcome and use your experiences to bring comfort, healing and hope to others. Give it to Him and watch what He can do with the most painful and impossible situations. He loves you, it's not over.

Psalm 147:3 (NKJV) He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

John 10:10-11 (NAS) The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

Psalm 34:17-19 (NIV)The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.

Psalm 55:16-18, 22 (NIV) As for me, I call to God and the Lord saves me. Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress and He hears my voice. He rescues me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me. Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.

1 Peter 5:6-10 (NKJV) Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
