That Agape Love

Agape love - unconditional love that is always giving and impossible to take or be a taker. It devotes total commitment to seek your highest best no matter how anyone may respond. This form of love is totally selfless and does not change whether the love given is returned or not. This is the original and only true form of love.

The love of God is true agape love - He loves us no matter how we behave. Our bad behavior is never justified or okay, but whether we are good, bad, or worse, the way God feels about us doesn't change. We can relate to this as parents, when our children are behaving well, we love them - when they are behaving badly, we still love them. We don't agree with the bad behavior but we always love them.

God's love is never based on our behavior, it is not merited, we are His children and He has always loved us and desires for us to be in a relationship with Him. Rewards are different, those are merited but let's learn more about this agape love!

Agape love is patient, gentle, never-changing, always selfless, always forgiving and always helping. It is a love that never thinks about what can be given back in return - it just seeks to please and bless others. This is God's love toward us! We cannot hide from God, no matter the sin or shame that tries to haunt and torment your mind, God will forgive you! Return to that agape love of God today - there is no condemnation in Christ, He took that shame for us on the cross.

Romans 8:1-2 (NLT) So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.

1 John 3:1 (NLT) See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.

Meditate on this today, that you are a child of God! Don't allow it to just become cliché but really meditate on what this means to you personally. He will always love you, as you desire to know Him more, you will hunger and thirst for righteousness and no longer desire to please your flesh. Pursue Him and the desire to please Him will follow.
